"Today painting is a way to get closer to reality. To the reality that is detached from appearances, the counter–world, the world of thought."
Eberhard Havekost
Through painting, I make images that explore the nuance of some basic, human fears–not the substance of horror films, freak accidents or tales of a post–apocalyptic world, but personal and interior anxieties. These painted meditations explore shouts and whispers of unfamiliarity. The marks and shapes are characters in a rhythm of mining, exposing and reshuffling. Each work harmonizes the varied quickness and stillness of what it means to be a person in obscurity. In this way, they are hazy maps charting a human process of realization. Both my practice and work function as memoir and omen.
